2010 Broad Appétit Mission

The mission of Broad Appétit is to provide an affordable and enjoyable local food festival in that is locally driven and regionally appealing. Broad Appétit exists to promote the amazing food, art, and music that makes Richmond a great place to live and visit. Broad Appétit is hosted by Downtown Neighborhood Association and benefits the Central Virginia Food Bank and Meals on Wheels.

A Bargain Day of Fine Dining – June 6, 2010, 11-5PM
Admission to this foodie paradise is free and for just $3 per sample, the public can taste signature dishes from over 50+ of Richmond’s finest local restaurants, including fine dining, family-friendly, trendy and up-and-coming establishments. From 11 until 5 p.m. the 100-200-300 blocks of West Broad Street will serve up outstanding prepared food in addition to fresh Virginia produce, meats, cheeses, herbs, artisan breads and confections straight from local organic farms and specialty food providers. The event also will feature several of Virginia’s finest wineries and plenty of brews. In 2008, the event's inaugural year, we enjoyed a crowd of 7500 folks and last year the crowd of food-lovers grew to 18,000. We expect 25,000 to attend the 2010 festival.

Get A Taste of Richmond
Broad Appétit is positioned on the calendar on Sunday, June 6th to top off an amazing weekend in Richmond. Each day allows out-of-towners, newcomers or those wanting to re-familiarize themselves with the city they’ve lived in for years to really “get to know” Richmond through three days of fun. Friday begins with First Fridays ArtWalk, Anthem’s Stride Through Time historical walking tour on Saturday, and Broad Appétit on Sunday! Truly a feast for the body, mind and soul.

This year's event presented an unbelievable array of sample plates from 58 of Richmond's best local food spots. By the end of the day, event attendance topped 18,000 and no one went home hungry. From Acacia to Zuppa's, our chefs showed us what they are made of - great talent, a penchant for serving you and a wonderful desire to connect with the community. The 2010 line-up will be equally as impressive and planning has already begun to expand on entertainment and make the day even more filling - and exciting - than ever before! Check back early next year for updates! Until then, Broad Appétit!
